V okviru predavanj ERC projekta DEAGENCY (№ 101095729) in predavanj Tradicijska evropska verovanja na Oddelku za etnologijo in kulturno antropologijo Filozofske fakultete bo imela v torek, 14. 11. 2023, ob 16.20 v predavalnici P3, OEIKA, Zavetiška 5 dr. Mare Kõiva, vodja Oddelka za folkloristiko in vodja Centra za estonske študije, Estonski literarni muzej, Tartu, Estonija predavanje z naslovom Komunikacija z mrtvimi. To this day, dreams are one of the types of folklore to which researchers return, trying to find models of explanation for whether they are a function of the self or an open door to another world. Dreams were considered original pointers of narratives and could even be classified as using some traditional plots, and some that were not related to the canon of tradition at all. Dreams are not only mental images and sources of creativity, they also reflect reality because the human body physically reacts to dreams. We can experience different things in a dream, including smell, sound, etc., in addition to which experiences generated by sleep apnoea have not gone away. Language, environment and message have changed, as have the places to which the soul migrates today. What has changed and what remains? Can people of today protect themselves from what happens in a dream? How is the space where people meet and with whom they meet described in folklore? What are the problems and reasons for meetings? What forms of communication are used to communicate with the deceased? What is each party willing to know? Are the stories of children and young people different from the stories of older people? These are some of the issues that I will address, using the dream-stories of the 3 different periods (19th century, 1938), 2018). I am also going to present a brief overview of the study of dreams and the human soul in anthropology and particularly in folklore studies.
