Students refresh the basics of textology and discourse pragmatics, the emphasis being on the context, addressee and communicative purpose. They get to know the basic text types and prototypes in French and in Slovene: narration, description, argumentation, explanation, dialogue and monologue. They compare features of individual French and Slovene texts, particularly non-literary, and form texts of the same type, paying attention to text function, communicative purpose and addressee. They familiarise themselves with different approaches to translating specific text types and genres using selected parallel texts which provide a basis for discovering the principles of text formation in both languages. The focus is on newspaper articles, scientific and technical texts and on the analysis of their conventions in French and Slovene.
