Lecturer(s): prof. dr. Gruntar Jermol Ada

The course is divided into two units:
a) German Contrastive Grammar 1
b) German Language Practice 3

a) German Contrastive Grammar 1:
Students upgrade their grammatical competences gained during the first two years of the cycle, extending their knowledge to the contrastive grammar between German and Slovene. They gain familiarity with the translation-relevant contrastive analysis methods and topics, eg.: congruence between subject and predicator, non-finite verb forms, special groups of verbs (transitive – intransitive, reflexive verbs …), final vs. non-final form of the adjective in Slovene, comparison of the adjectives, usage of pronouns, modality, noun-oriented tendency in German, aspectuality, passive voice, (in)animate subject, negation and other contrastive-relevant topics.

b) German Language Practice 3:
Students deal with a series of topics which help them build up their topic-related vocabulary and cultivate idiomatic German usage. Written expression techniques investigate advanced forms of the writing process, which students apply to the writing skills gained during the first two years. Students also consolidate and upgrade their knowledge of some more demanding morphological and syntactic structures.
