Lectures present selected chapters and aspects of social culture in Slovenia and mostly focus on presenting and analysing various understandings and cases of rituals. Students learn about terminological dilemmas related to the study of customs and manners as well as to the study of rituals. They acquaint themselves with the past and contemporary ethnological and anthropological research of rituals and holidays in Slovenia. At the same time they acquire basic information about selected rituals of a life-cycle, calendar year and rural working year cycle.
Practical classes are devoted to individual in-depth treatment of chosen holidays, customs and manners as well as rituals in Slovenia.
